About Me
I have been a sports enthusiast and exercise fanatic since childhood. As a teenager, I studied Tae Kwon Do to focus my mind and strengthen my body. In college, I stayed on the fitness track by heading to the gym almost daily to get that work-out high.
In 2003, I moved to New York City and soon joined Team in Training to prepare for the San Francisco Marathon. The good news is I ran a marathon! Unfortunately, I tore ligaments in my knee during training and was not able to work out for 6 months. It was torturous! This experience forced me to learn how to heal myself through a mix of different fitness techniques – aerobics, strength training, mixed martial arts (MMA) and yoga.
Currently, I'm on my way to receiving my black belt in MMA and I am CPR certified by the American Heart Association. While it was difficult having to deal with my injury after the marathon – including arthroscopic knee surgery – having that downtime made me aware of how important fitness is in my life. I continue to work out daily and have found that sharing my combined passion for exercise and martial arts is my calling in life. I now reside in Los Angeles where I currently teach in the Hollywood and Beverly Hills areas.
